After receiving an inquiry from Russian customer Jack regarding an adsorption dryer, we conducted a precise analysis of their demanding operating environment and recommended Zibo Xiangrun XR101 activated alumina. With its excellent performance, we successfully gained the Russian customer's approval. So, what other applications can Zibo Xiangrun XR101 activated alumina be used for?

I. Drying

Almost all gases and fluids can be dried with XR101 activated alumina. Water vapor removal is essential in production and fluid transportation. Sizes of 4-6 mm are typically used for water vapor absorption requiring a pressure drop. Sizes of 3-5 mm are used for fluid drying and other fluid absorption applications. XR101 activated alumina is suitable for dryers of all sizes and is also suitable for drying gases in regenerative environments (350-600°F) and pressure-switching (PSA) environments. In addition to compressed air, XR101 activated alumina is also a preferred choice for drying other industrial gases, such as natural gas, hydrogen, ethylene, and cracked gas. Its high surface area and suitable pore volume provide numerous adsorption sites, enabling deep drying with atmospheric dew points reaching -40°C or even lower. Unlike some adsorbents, alumina is inherently inert and does not release acidic substances, protecting expensive piping and equipment.

Typical applications: feed gas pretreatment in petrochemical plants, pre-stage drying in air separation units, and high-purity gas preparation in the electronics industry.

II. Acidic Impurities Removal

Removes acids generated during the use of oils, lubricants, and refrigerants. XR101 activated alumina removes acids during use. In the chlorination and fluorination of hydrocarbons, removing excess halides and water is essential for producing a non-corrosive product.

III. Catalysts and Catalyst Supports

XR101 activated alumina is also an ideal catalyst or support for a variety of chemical reactions. Its high surface area provides ample dispersion for active components (such as cobalt, molybdenum, and nickel), significantly improving catalytic efficiency. Its high thermal stability allows it to withstand the high temperatures encountered during catalyst regeneration while maintaining structural integrity.

Typical applications: Used in dehydration reactions, hydrogenation, dehydrogenation, reforming, and other petrochemical processes.
